Makeup Mon...errr Tuesday: Green Eyes

First, I know it's Tuesday and I'm predictably late with Makeup Monday. I hope the lack of alliteration doesn't detract from the post; I promise that I have lots of great excuses for not putting this up yesterday. Or, I fell asleep.

One of my first forays into the wonderful world of bright eyeshadow was with a beautiful shade of green from Milani (whose older shadows were amazing), and I was forever hooked. Green has since become the most popular color in my rather large makeup collection, though I can't remember the last time I gave them a proper spotlight. That was rectified immediately, upon my recent purchase of the Urban Decay Black Palette, which has a beautiful dark emerald that was surprisingly missing from my arsenal. This collection is hands down my favorite shadow palette to date: each color is highly pigmented and though they are all darkdarkdark, the duochrome is prominent enough to be unique. Considering that their regular eyeshadows are only .01 oz larger and cost $17 each, $36 for six shadows, eyeliner and a mini primer potion is a major bargain.

For this look, I only used the dark green in the palette, Libertine, and the primer potion. Though I listed UD's URB as the bright green shadow, I actually used UD's Vert, which is no longer available.

This will make the colors pop and keep them from creasing. This is a MUST!
I used the MAC 213 brush with UD Vert e/s, but you can use any comparable brush and bright green shadow.
I used the MAC 275 brush and UD Libertine from the black palette. Sonia Kashuk makes a comparable (and cheaper) brush - it's great for contouring.
I used a MAC 224 tapered blending brush - again, Sonia Kashuk makes a comparable one (I have both). Blend in a small, circular motion. No blending brush? Use your finger!
The lighter color on the inner corners keeps this look from being too severe and brightens up the eyes.

As you can see, I ended up bringing the bright green even further outward - it was looking a little too Taylor Momsen-ish without the added color.  


After cleaning up fallout (and you will probably have fallout - it's inevitable) with a q-tip and a bit of makeup remover, I put on a neutral lipstick: Julie Hewett's Biba. That's it! If you have any questions, please let me know in the comments and I will do my best to help.
